Treatment of Class II Division 1 Malocclusion

Description of Class II Division 1 Incisor Relationship

Class II, division 1 malocclusion - protruding front teeth - can often be managed without extractions in the young patient using a functional appliance to correct the increased overjet (the horizontal distance between the upper and lower front teeth) and the bite of the back teeth.

Example 1

In this example only a removable functional appliance was used to correct the 10 mm overjet. This treatment was remarkably quick and only took 9 months.
